We would far rather re-hang a sound run than sell you a new one.

  • Lost pitch — water stands in the middle and comes over the front edge.

  • Open mitres and end caps, dripping at the corner every time it rains.
  • A blocked or undersized outlet, backing the run up before it can drain.

The fix

Find the low spot, put the fall back.

    Where the water stands tells you exactly where the run has dropped.

  2. 02Re-hang it

    Hidden hangers into solid wood, at the spacing that run needs, with the fall put back toward the outlet.

  3. 03Reseal the joins

    Mitres, end caps and outlets cleaned back and resealed properly instead of smeared over.

  4. 04Check the board

    If the fascia behind has gone soft, that gets dealt with first — there is a page on that.

Is a repair worth it on old gutters?
Often, yes. If the run has already been re-hung twice or the back of it is wetting the fascia, we will say so rather than take the money twice.
Mine only leaks at the corner.
That is a mitre seal. Small job, and a common one.
There is a stripe down my siding.
Something is spilling above it, usually a joint or a low spot within a few feet of the stain.
Can you match a repair to the rest of the run?
